1 mpl of wood chips = approx. 0.35 m3 of solid wood
1 ton of wood chips = approx. 4 m3

1 mpl of wood = 2 mpl of wood chips
1 ton of wood chips = contains approx. 1.4 m3 of solid wood
1 m3 of solid wood = 2.8 mpl of loosely packed wood chips
1 m3 of solid wood weighs approx. 730 kg

1 mpl of wood chips weighs 250 – 300 kg
1 mpl of wood chips = approx. 65 – 75 litres of heating oil
1 mpl of wood chips = 4 GJ
1 m3 of solid wood = 11.2 GJ
1 ton of wood chips = 13.2 GJ
1 kg of wood chips = approx. can gives 4.4 kWh

Other calculations : 

1 kg of wood chips = 0.24 – 0.42 kg of heating oil = 0.27 – 0.51 m3 of natural gas = 0.45 – 0.81 kg of hard coal
